| Blessing of the Rings | This is the first part of the Liturgy of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. The church confirms the voluntary commitment of the bridegroom and bride to live together as husband and wife by giving them the blessed rings. | Blessing of the Crowns | This is the second part of the Liturgy of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. A gold chain with a cross pendant is blessed and placed over the head of the bridegroom and bride. These "crowns" are symbols of the reward which they will receive from the Lord at the end of a victorious life.
